According to report released by research company Gfk Retail and Technology, android sales have increased 4 times in last one month.

The report generated data in last 2 week of March and first 2 week of April states that monthly contract sale of Android rose from 3 in week 12 to 12.3 percent in week 15. This took total Android market share from 1.6% to 6.7% in same period. The data was gathered from UK market. Almost one in 5 advance OS purchased in UK is Android.

'The impressive growth rate exhibited in recent weeks is due to a succession of launches by several manufacturers,' said GfK analyst Megan Baldock.

Recent releases are the likes of the HTC Desire, HTC Legend, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, Sony Ericsson Vivaz, Nexus One, Droid Incredible that have all been uber popular releases.

The Android juggernaut is moving at fast pace, this data is validated by reports from mobile advertising giants Admob and Chitka research reports.

According to Chitika Research's latest numbers, Android phones had a little more than a third as many impressions as iPhones in April. Chitika based its figures on more than 18.5 million impressions across its advertising network in North America.

"While both platforms continue to grow, Apple's lead is decreasing at a fairly significant rate,"according to Chitika. At the current rate Android will overtake Apple’s Iphone in August 2011.

Admob a mobile advertising giant, had similar view about device Android growth. The figure for United States shows that Iphone OS (that is combined Iphone + Ipod Touch) has market share of 37% in all ad request. But it is down from 47% it had in January. Android market share is steadily rising in ad request. This can be also due to the fact that over last quarter number of Android application in market have jumped from around 20,000 In January to well over 50,000 in end of April.

Back in February, Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s said 60,000 Android handsets were shipping every day, which translated into a 5.4 million per quarter rate — a revelation. With this new figure we can assume that it will touch Iphone matching figure of 100,000 a day when Android Froyo based products are release in market later this month.
