The revolution of Android OS began with the HTC. Samsung and Motorola were the next prominent manufacturers quick to follow HTC in offering handsets with Google’s Android OS. Samsung has opened its account in Android phones with the release of Samsung Moment aka Instinct Q m900 on November 1st. The specifications of the phone are pretty intriguing. The presence of 800 MHz processor along with a 3.2-inch, HVGA, AM-OLED display makes the phone a very strong contender in Android phones segment as far as we have seen. An optical track-pad is also present on the handset beside the display screen of Samsung Moment. Launched in November 1st 2009 the phone is priced at US $179.The Moment offers everything an average customer would want, and even the features include Sprint specific media services. The m900 has a sturdy design and spots a comfortable physical QWERTY keyboard. A closer look at the specs of the phone (4.6inches x 2.34inches x 0.6inches) reveals that the phone is much larger than the other variants. The phone also is a little bit top heavy in design. The vibrant AM-OLED screen has a resolution of 480x320 pixels and is remarkably comfortable for navigation. There is also provision in the phone to adjust the screen’s display settings so that the display will remain the same even when the phone is rotated. A proximity sensor present on the phone switches off the phones display while the user is attending a call. A Micro USB port present on the left spine of the phone accommodates both the charger and the USB cable. A 3.5mm headset jack is present on the top end of the phone.

Android version 1.5 is the offered OS for this product from Samsung. Performance wise, phone’s overall response exceeds expectations. The beefy 800 MHz processor does not allow any delay in launching applications and functions without any crashes. 802.11b Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections are present in the InstinctQ m900. The sprint's 3G EV-DO network offers fast data connection on the go. The web browser of the phone works exceptionally well with G-mail and other POP3 services including Yahoo and Hotmail. Through Samsungs Moxier Mail, HTML messages along with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents can be viewed easily. InstinctQ m900, however, lacks some basic applications like the world clock and notepad. A new file viewer application added to the phone’s application can be used to view and delete files. The m900 also comes with integrated apps from facebook, ESPN, The Weather Channel, CNN, and a demo version of Bejewled.

A GPS service is also present on this phone. MicroSD expansion is possible to a maximum of 32GB. The cell phone is observed to have exceptionally meritorious call quality; however, volume level could have been a little bit louder. A 3.2-megapixel camera is present in Samsung Moment, which provides pictures, with superior image quality. The phone does not have a SIM card lock feature and has a rated battery life of about 5.5 hours talk time.
