Tiger G3 is a dual SIM, android run, quad band cell phone with various features like TV support, analog TV program, Wi-Fi support, 3.2 inch touch screen etc. Tiger G3 is considered as a cheap clone of HTC’s latest offering HTC Hero. Put these two phones together and you can find a lot of similarities in design. In fact, Tiger G3 is a cheap clone phony version of the HTC product. Since the Android is not something which any ARM SOC processors can implement, we are assuming that the Tiger G3 has gone through a lot of tweaks. Indeed these SOC’s (System On Chips) are seldom ever the same.

The top brass features of the cell phone include 640*480 million pixel HD cameras with flash, dual SIM standby, analog TV, and FM radio. The battery pack is replaceable and rechargeable Li-ion battery which means we do not have to send the battery for replacement back to HTC service stations unlike HTC Hero. The phone provides support to Java2.0 and GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz. Talk time is 100-180 minutes and the standby time is 50-150 hours maximum. 64 Polyphonic ring tones in MP3 and MIDI is available in this phone. The dual cameras provide a maximum resolution of 1280*960. 1000 phone book entries can be stored in the phone. The inbuilt Music Player and Video Player Supports MP3, 3GP and MP4 formats. A picture viewer which supports JPG format is also present. GPRS and WAP 2.0 could be enabled in this phone.

SMS, MMS and E-mail support is also present in Tiger G3. The connectivity features include Bluetooth 2.0, data transfer via cable and A2DP. A built in Analog TV tuner is present which supports PAL and NTSC. However, this function is observed to be a failure in Australia and US due to the conversion of digital TV. Also, some areas may not be receiving Analog TV signal depending upon the quality of the local signal. Built in high quality speakers provide the noise you want in this phone. The presence of a gravity acceleration sensor makes this phone rich in additional features. The languages supported by the phone are English, Espanol, Portuguese, Francais, Deutsch, Russian, Greek, Persian and Dutch. FM Radio is also present in this phone.

There were not much drawbacks as far as our opinion goes. Though the phone provides a lot of options for its users, the main drawback we were concerned with was the presence of 1.3MP camera. Considering iPhone users, this is not much of a problem. Another drawback is that the internal memory is only 71.8MB and maximum expandable size is 4GB external. Also, the phone unlike its counterparts is not 3G enabled.

Coupled with a user interface like iPhone, Tiger G3 can be imagined both for the iPhone or HTC Hero. Fans and supporters are sure to be left tempting whether to buy the Tiger G3 just for fun and features, considering the price tag of $140.
